Lovers of Blackjack will love the variation brought to us by Playtech, Blackjack Surrender. It presents a challenge to even experienced players. Unlike Blackjack Scratch, which is a game of luck, Blackjack Surrender has a good deal of strategy about it thanks to the “surrender” feature.

Try for Free

It is not advisable to deposit funds at a casino to play for real if you have never played Blackjack before. Even if you know the premise of the game is to beat the dealer’s hand without exceeding 21, you need to know how to employ a gameplay and surrender strategy. Try the game in demonstration mode first to get some idea of the rules. You won’t become an expert playing the game in free mode, but it is better than going to the table green to play for real money. Blackjack is one of those table games that take a combination of luck and strategy to win!

The Playing Table

At first glance, the Blackjack Surrender table can be overwhelming as it looks rather crowded. The playing area is a typical baize green with dedicated spots for the hands to be dealt into and player controls in the bottom centre.

Much of the screen (to the left-hand side and the bottom) is taken up by the betting tables and betting options. The betting table is a large grid filled with letters split into Hard, Soft, and Pairs sections detailing all the options for the face-up cards in your hands in conjunction with the dealer’s face-up card. This will mean nothing if you have never played before and the most compelling reason to try the demonstration game. Take the time to understand the terms used and what they mean.

Blackjack Surrender is one of those games where it does pay to invest some time in learning the rules and trying out lots of strategies before playing for real. Playing the game even in demo mode is fun because the video and audio are superb, the animations are fluid, and the graphics are superb. .

Special Features

Before you even begin to think about game strategy, there are some customizable options to deal with. There is a choice of ten different colours you can choose for your table ground and you can choose to play in standard mode or use the autoplay feature, which in this Blackjack Surrender Game is a button called Fast Play.

Playing the Game

This is a standard Blackjack game without any side-bets or unique rules. It is played with 6 decks of cards and you can play up to 5 separate hands simultaneously. Each of your hands is played against the dealer’s hand.

Where this game veers from standard blackjack is the Surrender. If you think your hand is too weak to beat the dealer’s hand, you “surrender” and receive back half your original wager. You can split, double, or take insurance. All the options available to you are in the playing buttons. With the fact that the dealer will never be dealt a soft 17, these features take the average RTP (Return to Player) to an impressive 99.65 per cent.

Having the strategy chart next to the playing table is a handy guide but you can ignore it if you wish. The chart can work wonders for the novice player learning the game.

The smart graphics and smooth gameplay make Blackjack Surrender a great challenge to a seasoned blackjack player and will make novice players fall in love with the game.
